Calling all strummers!
You are invited to the final jam of the Mt. Baker Ukulele Community’s 2022-23 season!
The Mount Baker Ukulele Community (MBUC) was created from the infrastructure and
resources of the Bellingham Ukulele Group (BUG). Its mission is to bring together
strummers of all levels for the purpose of PPP — “Playing for Pure Pleasure.” The MBUC
also creates instructional opportunities that support beginning players.
Our motto: No strummer left behind!
Saturday, June 3, 2023
1:00 pm ~ 3:30 pm
St. James Presbyterian Fellowship Hall
910 - 14th Street
Bellingham, WA 98225
Bring your ukulele, your music*, and a music stand --
then get ready to have some fun!
$5.00 donation much appreciated!
* Most of our music comes from the Jumping Jim's ukulele songbook, THE DAILY
UKULELE, compiled and arranged by Liz and Jim Beloff. We refer to this book as the
"Yellow Book,” because of the color of the cover (duh, yellow). You can find this
songbook in local book and music stores. The MBUC also has a limited number of loaner
copies available for use during the jams.
MBUC jams take the format of either a leader leading songs or a song circle — or a
hybrid of both. In song circles, multiple people take turns leading songs. You can pick
your song from the Yellow Book or from another source. (If you pick it from another
source, please bring with you at least 25 copies of the song to share with others.) If
you're too shy to lead, no worries! You can pick a song, then ask someone else to lead it.
Or, if you have prepared an open mic performance, you can offer it to the group when
it's your turn to lead a song. Or you can pass entirely, allowing the next person to pick a
song and lead it.
This month’s jam will be led by Gail MacDonald.

The MBUC does not hold jams in July or August. However, on Saturday, July 1, at 1PM,
the MBUC will hold a meeting in the St. James Fellowship Hall to transition to a new
leadership committee. Any strummers interested in helping to set the future course of
our ukulele group should, ideally, attend the upcoming jam on June 3 and the planning
meeting on July 1.
If you cannot attend the June jam or the planning meeting in July, but still hope to
support the MBUC in its 2023-24 season (which will begin with a jam on September 2),
pls contact Susan Gee Rumsey, 510-778-0369, Aloha.bears@att.net, so she can help you
find a way to fulfill your fondest uke desires.
