Bellingham Ukulele Orchestra
The Bellingham Ukulele Orchestra (BUO) was a group of devoted players originally drawn from the Bellingham Ukulele Group. Established in 2010 under the direction of Gail MacDonald, the Orchestra played winter and spring concerts that delighted ukulele enthusiasts from near and far. They played their last concert in December 2019.
The BUO was revitalized by Wendy Bohlke, Brian Hansen, Suzanne Harris, Pommie Soroka, and the rest of the membership in January 2020, and practiced via two weekly Zoom meetings until 2022 when it recommenced in person meetups. Concerts were held at the Ferndale Public Library in May 2023 and 2024, as well as at the annual Allied Arts Holiday Markets and through participation at the Northwest Ukulele Jam Uke at Skagit Valley College’s McIntyre Hall in March 2024.
